Hi! I'm Krista, a Social Worker who lives in the Kingston area with my husband and two cats, Chicken & Nugget. I'm also Mohawk, and my family originates from Tyendinaga. My career in mental health began in University when I co-created a mental health program for students that blended both Indigenous knowledge and western mental health practices. This kick-started me into my career, and shortly after I completed a Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto, where I focused on growing my knowledge about the links between physical, mental, and spiritual health. Since then, I've worked in a variety of healthcare settings and supported clients with all types of challenges including end of life, caregiver burnout, and crisis intervention.
In early 2020 I moved to working as a therapist full time, and furthered my training in attachment theory, relationship dynamics, and anxiety. I currently use a variety of models (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy) in conjunction with Indigenous wisdom in order to support clients with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, grief & bereavement, caregiver burnout, relationship challenges, and more.
Fees and Payment
Session costs start at $165 per 50-minute session.
Fees are billed at the end of each session. I accept all major Credit cards, Debit, & E-transfer as methods of payment for those paying privately. Social Work Services are also tax deductible when completing your income taxes each year for those without insurance coverage. Have questions about fees and payment? Insurance
Unsure if you have coverage? Reach out to your individual healthcare plan provider and ask about your coverage for Registered Social Work Services.
I provide direct billing for all clients with Indigenous Status through NIHB. I also offer direct billing through GreenShield, and BlueCross for Veteran's Affairs Canada. All other clients will receive a detailed receipt after payment of each appointment to be able to submit to their independent insurance plans.
